The crashbox receives incoming water and helps distribute it across the sluice. This reduces uneven flow and gives the recovery system a more consistent opportunity to separate heavy gold from lighter sand and gravel.

What Is a Crashbox?
A crashbox receives water from the pump before it enters the sluice. The water’s energy is dispersed inside the box, helping create a more even flow across the recovery area.
A properly supplied crashbox can help reduce surging, uneven side-to-side flow, and concentrated streams of water that may interfere with material separation. Pump selection, hose size, sluice angle, material classification, and feed rate must still be matched to the system.
