For this product, please be aware of our Returns Policy. Due to the high return rate (i.e. people purchasing this detector, using it on vacation, and returning it) we have implemented a stricter restocking fee policy. If this detector is returned after use and does not have a manufacturers defect, there will be a 30% restocking fee. If you are interested in renting a detector as opposed to buying it and returning it after use, please consider that option and call us for details.
Take your treasure hunt from dry sand to deep water with the Minelab Excalibur II. Built for beaches, surf zones, shallow-water hunting, and serious diving, this rugged underwater metal detector is waterproof to 200 feet (60 meters) and uses Minelab’s proven Broad Band Spectrum technology for stable performance in saltwater and mineralized ground.
The Excalibur II simultaneously transmits 17 frequencies ranging from 1.5 to 25.5 kHz. This broad frequency range provides sensitivity to a wide variety of targets, including coins, rings, jewelry, relics, and other metallic objects. Its multi-tone analog audio helps experienced users identify targets by sound without relying on a visual display.
With an IP68 waterproof rating to 200 feet, the Excalibur II is designed for demanding underwater use. Its hardwired search coil and headphones provide a durable, watertight configuration suitable for beach hunters, waders, snorkelers, and scuba divers.
High-visibility fluorescent components make the detector easier to see in dark or murky water.
Minelab’s Broad Band Spectrum technology simultaneously transmits 17 frequencies from 1.5 to 25.5 kHz. The detector analyzes a wide range of target responses to improve detection depth, sensitivity, and target identification in challenging environments.
BBS technology also provides effective ground rejection without requiring manual ground balancing, making the Excalibur II especially capable on wet saltwater beaches and underwater.
The Excalibur II identifies accepted targets through changes in audio pitch and volume. Different conductive targets produce different tones, allowing users to learn the detector’s language and evaluate targets without looking at a screen.
Rejected targets cause the threshold to blank, providing additional information about objects beneath the coil.
Choose between two primary detecting modes:
Discriminate Mode: Rejects ferrous objects and allows adjustable rejection of unwanted conductive targets.
Pinpoint/All-Metal Mode: Detects all metal types while providing an effective method for locating a target’s exact position.
Rotary controls provide direct access to sensitivity, discrimination, threshold, target volume, and operating mode—even when wearing gloves.
The included standard shaft adjusts from 45 to 48 inches for comfortable detecting on land, beaches, and in shallow water. The compact dive shaft adjusts from 32 to 36 inches for improved handling and control below the surface.
The included sealed 13-volt, 1000 mAh NiMH battery pack provides approximately 14 to 19 hours of operation on a full charge. An audible low-battery alert lets the operator know when it is time to recharge.

Always make sure the battery connection is securely sealed before entering the water. After detecting in saltwater, thoroughly rinse the detector, coil, shafts, headphones, and battery connections with fresh water. Never pull or carry the detector by its cables, and do not attempt to disconnect the hardwired coil or headphones.
