How Much More Depth Can You Get?
According to testing reported by Detech, the 13-inch Ultimate coil delivered the following approximate depth improvements compared with the standard Simplex search coil:
| Target Type |
Reported Depth Increase |
| Small coin-sized targets |
Up to approximately 15% |
| Larger coin-sized targets |
Up to approximately 20% |
| Larger relic-sized targets |
Up to approximately 30% |
These figures represent manufacturer-reported test results, not guaranteed performance. Actual depth depends on target size, soil mineralization, detector settings, interference, and detecting technique.

Excellent for Coin and Relic Hunting
Old Homesteads and Historic Properties
Searching an old farmhouse, stagecoach stop, or abandoned settlement?
The larger search footprint can help cover yards, pastures, and surrounding fields more efficiently.
Its potential depth advantage may also help you investigate targets that were difficult to detect with the original coil.
Civil War Relics and Historic Artifacts
Large fields and historic campsites are excellent locations for a larger search coil.
The Detech Ultimate is well suited for searching for bullets, buttons, buckles, and other metal artifacts where detecting is permitted.
Deep Coin Hunting
Older coins can be buried beneath years of accumulated soil.
The Ultimate coil is designed to provide increased depth on certain coin-sized targets, making it an appealing upgrade for detectorists searching previously hunted ground.
Beaches and Open Areas
Cover more sand, pasture, or open ground with each sweep.
The waterproof construction also makes this coil useful for suitable wet-ground and shallow-water applications.
Detech Ultimate Technology
The 13-inch Ultimate uses a specialized Double-D design intended to improve detection performance while maintaining stable operation.
Its reinforced housing is engineered to absorb mechanical shock and vibration, and the coil is designed to operate across a range of temperatures and ground conditions.
For Simplex+ owners, this offers a practical way to upgrade performance without purchasing an entirely new metal detector.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this coil make my Simplex+ detect deeper?
It is designed to improve depth on certain targets. Detech reports depth gains of approximately 15–30% in its tests, depending on target size. Actual results will vary.
Is the 13-inch coil better than the standard coil?
For open areas and certain deeper targets, it may offer an advantage. Smaller coils can still be preferable in heavy trash, tight spaces, and locations where target separation is especially important.
Can I use this coil underwater?
The search coil is waterproof. Always follow the detector manufacturer's operating limits and check the cable and connector before submersion.
Does the coil include a skid plate?
Yes. A protective coil cover is included.
Will this fit the Simplex ULTRA or Simplex BT?
This version is specified for the original Simplex+. A different Detech coil version is available for the newer Simplex models.
