The beam at 6 inches high is a good 3-1/4 inches across and nicely rounded. Compared to my old one that is blinking out at times, it has a 2 inch beam that has bright spots mixed in at same height. The new light has 9 LEDs and my old Lowes purchased light 14 LEDs. I put new Duracell Batteries in both lights from the same new pack just purchased. I think more LED's are not better since they compete for the same power as both lights hold 3 AAA batteries each. The new light is more compact although it does not have the rubber grip like my old one. That's not that bad considering the positive trade off of a superior light beam that has no fluctuations in the light pattern till the very edge of the beam. The price overall was very competitive to a big box store brand. I took photos but don't see a place to add them. Just know this is a good compact light for checking minerals or uranium glass in antiques.
