What Does Counterweight-Ready Mean?

The Minelab Equinox 600 and 800 can feel front-heavy, particularly when fitted with larger search coils.

This occurs because the search coil's weight is positioned at the end of the detector shaft, creating leverage that your wrist and forearm must support.

Steve's counterweight-ready upper shaft includes a threaded attachment at the rear, allowing you to install a compatible counterweight tube.

Adding an appropriately sized counterweight behind the detector handle can help improve balance and reduce the effort required to support a nose-heavy coil.

This product does not include a counterweight. It simply provides the shaft and threaded attachment needed for a future counterweight installation.

Rather than relying solely on the factory spring-button adjustment arrangement, the clamping cam lock holds the lower rod securely in position.

Upgrade your Minelab Equinox 600 or 800 with Steve's Detector Rods from High Plains Prospectors!

Our "counterweight-ready" upper shaft for the Minelab Equinox includes 4 cuff-adjustment holes, and one hole for the control-box handle (in the same positions as the stock Minelab shaft). The shaft also includes a heavy duty, adjustable, removable clamping cam lock. Finally, this shaft includes a threaded insert in the butt-end of the shaft (to permit attachment of the counterweight), and a matching-threaded end cap (to cap the shaft when the counterweight is not being used).
