Cut through turf, roots, compact soil, and heavy clay with the versatile Root Slayer Soil Knife. Based on the traditional Japanese hori-hori design, this heavy-duty hand digger combines the functions of a trowel, root cutter, transplanter, cultivator, and weeding tool.
One blade edge features 12 aggressive saw-style teeth, while the opposite side provides a long sharpened cutting edge. The signature inverted-V tip helps penetrate difficult ground, and an integrated twine cutter and bottle opener add extra utility in the field.
A protective sheath is included for convenient storage and transportation.
The 7.75-inch tempered carbon-steel blade is powder coated for corrosion resistance and long-term field use. Its sharpened edges and inverted-V tip help the tool enter compact ground and cut through root-filled soil while recovering coins, relics, and other detected targets.
The ergonomic thermoplastic handle provides a secure, comfortable grip during repeated digging. Its polypropylene core adds structural support without making the tool unnecessarily heavy.

Cut a controlled plug or flap instead of removing more soil than necessary. Place loose dirt on a recovery cloth, retrieve the target carefully, return all excavated soil, and replace the plug firmly.
Always obtain permission before detecting and follow local regulations governing digging and target recovery. Never dig where underground electrical, gas, water, irrigation, or communication lines may be present.
This tool has sharp cutting edges and aggressive serrations.
Keep out of reach of children
Wear suitable gloves and sturdy footwear
Keep hands away from both blade edges
Carry and store the tool inside its sheath
Inspect the blade, grip, and sheath before every use
Do not use the soil knife as a pry bar, hammer, or striking tool
Use caution around underground utilities and irrigation systems
Stop using the tool if the blade becomes cracked, bent, loose, or heavily corroded
Remove soil and debris after every use. Wash the blade when necessary and dry it thoroughly before returning it to the sheath.
Although the powder coating helps resist corrosion, exposed cutting edges and worn areas may rust if stored wet. Apply a light coating of suitable protective oil periodically and before extended storage.
Sharpen the plain and serrated edges only with equipment designed for their respective profiles. Store the tool in a cool, dry location.
