The Keene A28 Gold Magnet is a compact, manually operated black-sand separator designed to remove magnetite and other magnetic material from gold concentrates.

Press the spring-loaded plunger to position the enclosed magnet near the bottom of the tool, then move it gently over your concentrates to collect magnetic black sand. Transfer the tool to a separate container and release the plunger to drop the collected material.

Despite its name, the Gold Magnet does not attract gold. It removes magnetic material from around the gold, making final panning and fine-gold recovery easier.

How to Use

1. Press and hold the plunger to position the magnet near the bottom of the separator.

2. Hover the tool just above the concentrates.

3. Move it slowly across the material to attract magnetic black sand.

4. Lift the tool away from the gold-bearing material.

5. Position it over a separate container.

6. Release the plunger to drop the collected black sand.

For improved separation, dry the concentrates thoroughly and spread them into a thin layer before using the magnet.

Fine-Gold Recovery Tip

Wet or clumped black sand can carry small flakes of gold when lifted by the magnet. Use a light touch and avoid placing the separator directly against the concentrates. Save the removed magnetic material in a separate container and inspect it again before disposal to reduce the chance of losing fine gold.
