Product Information

Green Mountain Gold Trap 36" River Bed Hog | Clear Fluid Bed Gold Sluice with Removable Capture Tray

Watch the Gold Trap Work

The 36" River Bed Hog uses a fluid bed to capture gold in flowing stream water. Instead of relying on traditional riffles, carpet, or matting, it directs water and material through a capture tray where heavier particles can settle.

Its clear polycarbonate body lets you watch the material move through the trap and adjust your setup as stream conditions change. When it’s time for a cleanout, remove the capture tray without lifting the entire unit out of the water or setting it up again.

Designed for higher-volume stream prospecting, the River Bed Hog gives you more feeding capacity than Green Mountain Gold Trap’s smaller 23" Pay Streak Finder.

Features

  • 36" long fluid bed gold trap

  • 11.25" wide flare and 6.5" wide channel

  • Clear polycarbonate construction for a view of the capture area

  • Removable capture tray for convenient cleanouts

  • No traditional riffles, carpet, or matting

  • Made in the USA

  • SKU: GMGT36

Recovery depends on proper water flow, setup, feed rate, and the material being processed.

Unlike traditional sluice boxes, the fluid bed sluice does not use a set of riffles, matting, or carpet to capture gold. Instead, they use a fluid bed of water, sand, and small pebbles in a collection tray that is cast into the sluice to trap gold.

This version of a fluid bed sluice is a step above the rest.  Constructed of clear polycarbonate (the same stuff bullet proof glass is made of), this stuff is virtually indestructible.  Unlike most fluid bed sluices where you have to remove the entire box from the stream, the  36" River Hog has a patented Removable Capture Tray which allows for a very quick clean out. It also eliminates the need to lift the whole unit out of the water, saving valuable time re-setting up. Superb fluid dynamics throughout the entire Capture Tray means that it can and will sink the gold.  And, with the proper set up and feed rate, it will stay there.

Fine tuned to capture fine flour gold down to -300 microns.  You won't miss a fleck of gold if your box is tuned in right. The creator of this sluice has coined the term, "Clear = Confidence."  By having a clear sluice you can actually see what is going on inside the sluice box.  This allows you to adjust the box to get the perfect internal operation and fine tune it for optimal performance.

The River Hog fluid bed sluice is for higher volume stream applications Check out the 23" Paystreak Finder for a more portable/packable fluid bed sluice perfect for packing in while prospecting for producing gold paystreaks.
