Recommended Operation

Place the sluice securely in a suitable section of moving water. Adjust its slope and water flow until the vortex cells are actively exchanging material. The cells should clear lighter sand and gravel while maintaining protected low-pressure zones for gold capture.

Although the Vortex Dream Mat can process unclassified material, remove rocks that are too large for the sluice and break apart clay before feeding. Add material steadily across the width of the sluice and avoid burying the active cells faster than they can exchange lighter material.

Water conditions and material composition vary, so test the sluice with small amounts of material and make gradual adjustments before beginning full production.

Fast Cleanup

Stop feeding material and allow the water to clear lighter material from the mat. Release the slick-plate retention system, carefully remove the Dream Mat and rinse the captured concentrates into a gold pan or suitable cleanup tub.

Because the recovery system does not rely on conventional riffles, expanded metal or miner’s moss, cleanups are fast and require fewer parts to remove.
